It is the aim of the GEL to create a highly skilled and well-informed team so that it can achieve its commercial objectives without any person being physically injured or having their health impaired as well as without making avoidable negative impacts on the environment.

A safe environment is not one in which there is an absence of serious accidents, but rather is the result of active participation by management and all its employees in identifying and removing hazards.

The absence of accidents is a negative measure largely dependent on luck, while the identification and prompt elimination or control of hazards is a positive step and is essential to the discharge of the company’s duties under current legislation.
